I like both boxers. As an American I’ve always admired Oscar De la Hoya, but as a Filipino my heart is with Manny Pacquiao.

Lets face it, De la Hoya is way past his prime and washed up. So I guess my question is:
Who was a better boxer in their prime Manny Pacquiao or Oscar De la Hoya?

De La Hoya. He was the most famous mexican boxer at the time! Still is!
Everyone loves De La Hoya.

De la Hoya is the best player, but Manny Pacquiao is gonna take it from him!
GO! PACQUIAO! GO!

I also love both of these fighters but I would have to go with DLH to answer your question.
Now, I wouldn’t say DLH is way passed his prime…he has a lot left in him and win or lose he should give Pacquaio a good fight. He is favored big time to win don’t forget.

Manny Pacquiao. He was so tremendous on his first fight in US and became so popular in a little less time. No fighter has been well followed during a fight. Almost all boxing fans could not help but stop on whatever they are doing just to see this exciting man fight. Even Pay Per View would agree just to look at their profit during his fight.
Dela Hoya had his own share of greatness during his prime. But if to convert the time before he reaches such greatness compared to Pacquiao, Manny has advantage.

this is a stupid question because they are in two different weight classes , go do your homework both are good fighters and both are trying to prove points , manny point is since he is the pound for pound best and oscar has challeged him the naturally smaller fighter manny has a rep to uphold and a country behind him, oscar wants to prove he can beat the best he just doesnt want to fight the best in his division , oscar is a coward if you ask me he could fight either margarito who has dwindled into a b- fighter or he could fight paul williams who is blossoming and who i like and i will give him a b+ rating, ooooooppppppsssssss did i say those two fighters? my bad oscar wont fight either of them, why? oh now i remember it is because they are both taller than 6′1 lol but thats a 4 to 5 inch height advantage and he doesnt think thats fair to him, ofcourse him being 5′10 1/2 and manny is 5′6 which is a 4 1\2 inch height advantage for oscar is more than fair thats why the smaller lion is gonna slay that cur of a coward and back to your question de la hoya was good in his prime, excellent even manny on the other hand is just coming into his prime and he will be a hall of famer hands down

Manny hands down..oscar hardly ever fought any1 that was great.Manny has the most impressive wins ive seen in along time.He would have without a doubt beat the crap out of DLH as he did tonight.Oscar had medium power and slow reaction time.Manny is a all around beast. This is coming from a 3 time georgia and regional golden gloves champ…Boxing is my life!

In their Prime, might have been DLH.
But Manny is just going up!
escalating!
He will eventually go pass Oscar, probably.
I’d go for manny.
He won in the 8th round between him and DLH.

Manny Pacquiao won most of his major fights while De la Hoya lost a lot of his big fights so I chose Manny.

Pacquiao already defeated oscar on 12/6/08

Oscar De la Hoya, no question about it. He’s an Olympic gold medalist, and has won more than 10 professional boxing titles in his time. For a professional boxer, he has the largest number of charity institutions. Who else in professional boxing has done that? There are probably some, but not as much as he did. The De la Hoya vs. Pacquiao match is clearly not a good match, but was only for the money. He lost vs Pacquiao, but so what? What goes up, must come down, and Pacquiao will also have to face the same situation as he gets older. It would be wise for him to retire on top, rather than overstay his welcome as he starts losing the big bouts. I’m a huge fan of Pacquiao and I wish him the best. A fight vs Hatton will be very interesting.
